Project UNDARK

Phew（ヴォーカリスト）と小林エリカ（作家・漫画家）によるユニット。トラックをディーター・メビウスが担当。1910年代にUnited States Radium社の工場で時計の文字盤に夜光ペイントを施す作業を行ない被曝した女性工場労働者たちの記憶を召還する『Radium Girls 2011』をリリース。今回がディーター・メビウスを交えての初ライブ・パフォーマンスとなる。

Phew

1978年にパンクバンド「アーント・サリー」でデビュー。1980年に坂本龍一と『終曲／うらはら』を制作。1981年にコニー・プランクのプロデュースで『Phew』を発表。数年間活動を休止した後、『View』（1987）、『Songs』（1991）、『Our Likeness』（1992）を発表。NOVO TONO、Phew Unit、山本精一とのデュオ、Big Picture、MOSTなどでの活動を経て、15年ぶりのソロアルバム『Five Finger Discount』を2010年にリリース。ヴォーカリストとして日本のインディペンデント・シーンにおいて唯一無二の個性を発揮し、CAN、DAF、アインシュテュルツェンデ・ノイバウテンのメンバーやジム・オルーク、ビル・ラズウェル、アントン・フィアーなど海外のアーティストとのコラボレーションも多い。

小林エリカ

1978年生まれ。作家・漫画家。2008〜2009年、アジアン・カルチュラル・カウンシルの招聘でニューヨークに滞在。著書に小説『空爆の日に会いましょう』、詩をモチーフにしたコミック『終わりとはじまり』（共にマガジンハウス）など。近著はアンネ・フランクと実父の日記をモチーフにした『親愛なるキティーたちへ』（リトルモア）。2010年春にkvinaメンバーらと共に日本語・英語・エスペラント語のセルフ・パブリッシングのプロジェクト「LIBRO de KVINA」を立ち上げる。Webコミック『光の子ども』連載中。

ディーター・メビウス

ハンス・ヨアヒム・ローデリウス、コンラッド・シュニッツラーと1969年に「Kluster」を結成。シュニッツラーの脱退後名称を「Cluster」に変更。ミヒャエル・ローターを加えたユニット「Harmonia」ではブライアン・イーノとも共同作業。Cluster、Harmonia、Rother & Moebius、ソロなどの形態で数多くの先鋭的な音源を発表し世界中をツアー。常軌を逸した電子音響を作り出し、ジャーマン・エレクトロニック・ミュージックの先駆者の一人として、現在も多くのアーティストをインスパイアしている。

Project UNDARK

A unit formed by Phew (vocalist) and Erika Kobayashi (writer, cartoonist). Dieter Moebius makes the tracks. Released Radium Girls 2011 that summons the memory of female workers who contracted radiation poisoning from painting watch dials with glow-in-the-dark paint at the United States Radium Corporation’s factory in the 1910s. This is the first live performance of the unit with Dieter Moebius.

Phew

Debuted in 1978 with the punk band “Aunt Sally.” She worked on Finale/Urahara with Ryuichi Sakamoto in 1980 and released Phew produced by Conny Plank in 1981. After a pause for several years, she released View (1987), Songs (1991) and Our Likeness (1992), and then worked in various forms including NOVO TONO, Phew Unit, duo with Seiichi Yamamoto, Big Picture and MOST. In 2010 she released Five Finger Discount, her first solo album in 15 years. The most distinctive vocalist in the Japanese independent scene, she has also collaborated with a number of overseas artists including members of CAN, DAF and Einstürzende Neubauten as well as Jim O’Rourke, Bill Laswell and Anton Fier.

Erika Kobayashi

Born in 1978. Writer and cartoonist. Stayed in New York as a grantee of Asian Cultural Council from 2008 to 2009. Among her publications are a novel See You on the Bombing Day and comics with poems as their motif The End and the Beginning (both from Magazine House). Her latest book Your Dear Kitty, with Anne Frank and her father’s diary as its motif has been published from Littlemore. She established a Japanese/English/Esperanto self-publishing project “LIBRO de KVINA” with the members of kvina in 2010, and the Web publication of her comics LUMINOUS is ongoing.

Dieter Moebius

Formed “Kluster” with Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Conrad Schnitzler in 1969. After Schnitzler left, they changed the name to “Cluster.” Their other unit “Harmonia” inviting Michael Rother also collaborated with Brian Eno. He has released a number of innovative recordings and toured around the world in the forms of Cluster, Harmonia, Rother & Moebius as well as solo. Creating eccentric electronic sound, he has been inspiring a lot of artists as one of the pioneers of German electronic music.
